Me and computers! LOL

I'm very impressed with myself, those who really know me....know that I completely suck with computers. NOT ANY MORE!!! I have sucessfully figured out, on my own, how to add facebook and twitter to my blog, as well as, adding these to my website. Next, adding website and twitter to facebook page. Hmmmm.....I was really hoping for just adding the cute little "f" and "t" symbols to my website instead of a news feed, for now the news feed will do. The cute, designer, square buttons...... That will come in time. I take this computer stuff, one step at a time.

We have the Best clients.

Today we started a new job that we couldn't wait to start. Our client has been longing for a colour change on her walls since the day she moved in, about 3 years ago!!! She's a trooper, I persoanlly couldn't wait that long. She is the sweetest lady, she has spoiled my partner and I, with baked yummies and put together everything a person needs to brew a cup of tea, nealty placed on the counter with a sweet little note attached. We couldn't help but take a break to enjoy the great eats she left for us on the counter. We completed day 1 of her project and she gave us a tip, so we can treat ourselves to something special for after our work is done. WOW.....very unexpected. ( if you're reading....Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Linda, so very kind of you )

Last week, I started and completed a painting project in Ladysmith. It's a cute story as to how I had the honor of taking on this project. Home Depot, yes, Home Depot! I took a break from a project I was working on to purchase more mud from the Home Depot. An older couple were contemplating which paint brush to buy. Out of nowwhere, they asked me " what's your favorite brush?" So I stopped and showed them, compaired my favorite to all the others, gave them all the reasons why I love the brush that I use. They also were looking at paint colour samples, and of course, I couldn't help myself, I piped up with my opinion on the samples the wife was holding. It was fate. We set up a date to meet at their home for a colour consultation. Needless to say, I had the honor of painting their home. I then was spoiled too. I joined them at the dinner table for some yummy eats, also enjoyed a very tasty and truelly healthy banana chocolate muffin and had the chance to meet quite a few curious friends/neighbors and family members who all took an interest in what the Judson's were " up to".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my work!

WOW.....this is going to be FUN!

I have neglected my blog....yikes! But for great reasons. We have been swamped with work. Since Feb 20th, we ( my painting partner and I ) have booked and completed 5 painting projects. With the exception of one....we are hired to come back!!!!!! to stage our clients home for selling. This is going to be so much FUN. We are utilizing many of their current accessories  ( which is cost effective and who wants to spend more money to sell their home, really ) and we get to go shopping for some new items, also I found some pieces that are in my "GO TO" box of staging items to help with the task at hand. This is so much fun, and relaxing, yes relaxing....this is my happy place ( picking colours, painting and shopping, what more could a girl ask for?...WAIT! don't answer )

We met with 2 more clients tonight!!! We are now booking in April, it feels great to fill our calender and help our clients love their home again and in one case, help them have the "selling advantage."

Lesson Learned....Take lots of pictures!!!!

                                                Before                                                                   After
Hi Everyone!

I came across a before and after painting shot of a basement project I did in 2007. The goal was to take the small basement area and turn it into the "Man's ROOM". This client wanted a bar, entertainment area for "hockey night" and needed room for his pool table. He said " if you can do all that for me in this small space, you're hired."

I loved this project, and this client needed the help.

The best part of this project was going through the process of picking colours that went with a sports theme vision my client was looking for, designing the feature colour band for hockey and baseball memorabilia { to be hung within the colour band }  painting and planning the room around the wants and needs of my client.

We went with 2 colours that looked great with both of his favorite sport teams colours. The colour band was carried around the room except for the bumped out section where the bar was to be placed. In the "after" picture you'll notice the bump out because that is where the colour band starts, also ends on the other side of the bump out ( which is 6 ft wide 3.5 ft deep).  His pool table went align with the bar and off to the right hand side the bar/ pool table area was the entertainment part. He had a big, flat screen mounted so that it can be seen from the bar, as well as, the rest of the room. There was just enough space for the futon couch which was placed between the flat screen and pool table.

The sad part about this project, I didn't take enough pictures of before and afters. Pictures would show exactly what I did in this basement.

So getting back to my title for this blog, Lesson Learned!

Lesson #1 ..... always take LOTS of pictures of my projects!

Reason -Picture's tell a story, especially for me who isn't a great story teller, Prospective clients want to see a portfolio. It gives them a better idea of what I can do, and possibly could do for them. For the "just in case" factor, like me blogging, I never would have thought in a million years I'd be blogging, or I'd need my project pictures for advertising or for a portfolio or..or..or
I guess I could go on and on with the reasons but I'm sure....you get the picture.
